Kareebloem Guesthouse Thumbnail

Under the luscious evergreen branches of the Karee Tree, nestled between a thick carpet of green lawn and tropical undergrowth, lays the Victorian Kareebloem Guesthouse. The colonial exterior of this unique building, designed by the world renowned architect Sir Herbert Baker forms a welcoming front to all guests and visitors.

The warm and welcoming Victorian-styled luxury interior greets those who enter with a glow of hospitality entwined with an ambiance of royalty and splendor fit for kings and noblemen alike. The atmosphere is intimate and relaxing, providing refuge to the weary soul on its cool lawns and open verandas.

At Kareebloem it is our mission to provide guests with luxurious hospitality that will surpass your expectations as a “home away from home”.

Where does the name Kareebloem Guesthouse come from?

Inspired by the majestic Karee tree the name Kareebloem refers to the small flower that seasonally decorates this quick growing evergreen tree. It is known for its shade giving properties and luscious foliage which attracts various insects and indigenous bird life from far and wide.

The berries produced by its flowers is used by the Khoi people. (some of the earliest inhabitants of Southern Africa) to brew a kind of honey beer which they subsequently call “Karee”. For the traveler the Karee tree symbolizes food and a resting place for the weary traveler and so too the Kareebloem guest house. Do not feel ashamed when you find yourself wanting to stay longer
